Peachy Berry Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie bowls are the new cereal and are an excellent way to get all essential nutrients in each day. I can recall in past years having cereal first thing when I would wake up, Cheerios, Fruit Loops, and Frosted Flakes were a favorite, but believe it or not some of the cereals contain glyphosate. Glyphosate is a known carcinogen.  Glyphosate is an herbicide and has been linked to not only cancer, but autism as well. This is exactly why I highly recommend organic produce and/or making your own cereals with organic ingredients. If you do not know how to read labels on produce or other things I give tidbits on the Avi Unfiltered Podcast as well as offer grocery store tours. Everyone has a right to know what he or she consumes.  It is imperative that everyone be aware of what they are eating on a daily basis.

With a smoothie bowl you do not have to worry about getting sick. You do not have to feel guilty about what you are eating. In fact, you can feel absolutely incredible! You are treating your body with love. You are giving the body what it needs. Smoothie bowls are usually a fabulous mixture of fruits, veggies, seeds, + nuts. Sometimes I like to put homemade, guilt free chocolate chunks or donut holes on top with some blueberries. You can put more nuts on top of it or slice up some delicious strawberries and enjoy it.

Smoothie bowls are excellent for overall health. Low glycemic fruits, such as berries allow the body to digest better and does not cause weight gain. Nuts + seeds provide healthy fats for the brain to function optimally. It has fiber, which makes the gastrointestinal tract smile. When your gut smiles you smile. It is able to release toxins in the body and flush it out.  A smoothie bowl that I absolutely love is a micronutrient rich Peachy Berry Bowl below:

 Peachy Berry Smoothie

Peaches

Peaches are juicy, full of water, sweet, and an excellent fruit to have in the hot weather. They contain phosphorous, which strengthens teeth and bones. Peaches are rich in many vitamins and minerals. They aid in digestion, improve heart health, and protect the skin from damage. They are high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory. Many diseases come from inflammation in the gut, so peaches are an excellent addition to a smoothie.

Blueberries

Blueberries are low glycemic and also rich in antioxidants. Blueberries help with neurological disorders.  They enhance cognitive function. They contain anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are antioxidants responsible for giving blueberries their color. Freezing the blueberries improves the availability of antioxidants. This aids in cancer prevention ad fighting certain cancers. The berries in the smoothie bowl are frozen.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers contain phytochemicals. Phytochemicals reduce the risk of disease. They maintain inflammation balance or homeostasis within the body. They promote cardiovascular health. Cucumbers are high in water content and are excellent for cleansing out the body and flushing out toxic waste. The skin loves cucumbers.  They smooth and tighten the skin.

Arugula

Arugula is a bitter tasting green, but surprisingly you cannot taste it in a smoothie bowl. It adds much flavor and lots of vitamins, mineral, and nutrients. Arugula aids in weight loss. It detoxifies the liver, which is extremely important. Everything we eat has to pass through the liver. Arugula is also excellent for hair growth and a natural blood cleanser.

Cashews

Cashews are considered nuts to many, but some consider them a drupe because they come from a cashew apple. Cashews reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This reduces the risk of heart disease. They contain vitamin E, vitamin B-6, and omega-6. This helps skin, mood, and brain health. Cashews can cause mold toxicity if you buy them, well take a listen to Avi Unfiltered Podcast Episode 201: “Are Your Nuts Moldy?” This will help you avoid it.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of protein, even thought there is protein in every vegetable and fruit.  Pumpkin seeds have omega-3s. Omega-3s in conjunction with omega-6s from cashews allow the body to break down the food and reduce the risk of inflammatory diseases. They contain magnesium, zinc, fatty acids, which promote heart health. They increase good cholesterol.
