5 Reasons You Need A Holistic Health Coach
Holistic health encompasses every single thing in life. It is an approach to life and an ancient practice. It does not merely focus on the physical. It focuses on the person as a whole and how they react to their environment. Their environment is not only a physical environment. Their environment is where they live mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We as people are made up of four aspects: Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. When one of these aspects are lacking it creates an imbalance in an individual.
Every person’s imbalance is unique to them and their situation. As mentioned holistic health has been around since the beginning of civilization and was designed to create peace and oneness within each person. The ancients recognized that the body thrived in homeostasis. Homeostasis is the tendency toward stability among interdependent elements. To further break this down homeostasis means to maintain balance. It means to create an environment where you can be grounded, stable, and at peace even in the midst of interdependent elements.
You may ask, “What are those interdependent elements?” Interdependent elements are reliant, dependent, mutually having an effect on the other. For instance, when you have a broken toe you feel pain. Why? Because although the organs and systems of the body are extremely different in their properties, they work together as a team to alert when something is dangerous for the body. Another example of an interdependent relationship is people versus plants. We are biochemically similar to plants, yet our interdependent relationship is different. Even though our interdependent relationship differs, we still need each other. We need plants for essential vitamins and minerals on a daily basis.
In terms of holistic health, when one area suffers, everything suffers. Like that scripture says, “A little leaven, leaveneth the whole lump…” I am openly not religious and am not a part of an organization, but I am spiritual and read all books, including the Bible, which is short for Helios Biblios, the Book of The Sun. There are lessons in books and in everyday life, good and bad. It is all in our perspective. I absolutely love being a holistic health coach because I work with my clients to target what aspect in their life needs more tender, love, and care. Is a holistic health coach right for you?
Nutrition
Many people do not know where to start where nutrition is concerned. I remember being completely fucking lost. I had no idea about nutrition. I used to frequent fast food places every single day and thinking that all food was created equally and my health would not decline. Back then I ate poorly and was heavily overweight due to side effects from medications. I wish I had someone who could have written out meal plans for me, encouraged me, and been there for me to set aside some goals. Nutrition is the key to longevity. Eating can have a positive or negative effect on our overall well being depending on what we decide to consume.
Goals
Setting goals is important no matter what those goals are. Some clients have weight loss goals, some clients have goals to reduce their medications, some clients want to lower their HDL cholesterol, some clients want to reverse Type 2 Diabetes. The goals vary with each client. Having someone, such as a holistic health coach to hold you accountable to reach those goals can encourage you to succeed. Having an extra pair of eyes to tweak a meal plan or tweak your individualized health success plan can put you on the right path towards your goals. When I work with my clients we set very specific goals so they know how to reach them, and I know how to help them to reach them.
Relatability
I can relate to my clients because I have been sick my entire life, which you can read about here and hear about on the Avi Unfiltered Podcast . I have also had an extremely rough life that has been detrimental to my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health. This is what drives my passion for holistic health coaching. To be able to work on the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of a client, and see them improve dramatically is what I enjoy.
I love when I can relate to a client on a certain level and give them the tools that can help them. Although I can relate to my clients I recognize that they are different from me and have had different experiences. What works for one person does not work for others. I use very specific techniques to help them work through what they are dealing with and listen to their needs. I incorporate counseling in my health coaching practice.
You Are Too Busy
Many people are busy with work, school, children, family, career, entrepreneurship, etc. The last thing you want to have to do is write out your meal plan, study and research labels on foods, do medical research, and work through things on an emotional, mental, and spiritual level. This is what I do as a holistic health coach. Let someone help you! Let them help you take an inside look into your health. It is absolutely an investment, but it is the greatest investment because health is priceless. What is a career without you because you let your health slack? Nonexistent right?! Make that step of entrusting someone to hold you accountable to take control of your health.
Lifestyle
Creating a firm foundation will encourage longevity of life. The way you eat is no longer a crash diet or a short weight loss thing. It is now your lifestyle. My clients leave me loving eating healthy. They enjoy their meals, they are satiated, and most importantly happy.
